This document applies to commercial air operators conducting operations pursuant to Subparts 703, 704 and 705 of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs). The purpose of this document is to advise air operators of two national exemptions related to the use of non-transmitting portable electronic devices (PEDs) on board aircraft during take-off, climb, approach and landing, and the use of transmitting portable electronic devices (TPEDs) on board aircraft during the taxi-in to gate, terminal or dock phase of flight. This AC on its own does not change, create, amend or permit deviations from regulatory requirements, nor does it establish minimum standards. It describes an example of an acceptable means, but not the only means, of demonstrating compliance with regulations, standards and the conditions set out in the referenced exemptions. ![]() This Advisory Circular (AC) is provided for information and guidance purposes.
